Michael Larson

Michael is a laid back guy that can go from 0 to 80 in under 6 seconds. His love of sports, competitive gymnastics, and 20 years of coaching, marketing and landscape design will give you "The Edge," in buying or marketing your home. To get to know Michael better, listen to some of his insights about coaching and love of the land. "Working as a landscape architect for the past 11 years in Santa Fe, I have a true love of the land. Good landscape design is just as important as the architecture in giving your home, "The Edge" in curb appeal. Just because we live in a desert doesn't mean we can't have "Beautiful Gardens." For me… "Gymnastics is the ultimate art form in sport. It involves a beauty and total body awareness not comprehended by most athletes. By coaching, I am able to teach kids the concept of hard work, being a team player and self discipline. Most of all they learn that hard work does pay off." Coaching in the Junior Olympic program, I tell children they can be successful and go as far as they want in whatever they choose to do in life. I also encourage a child to stay in the sport only as long as they are having fun and enjoying it." Michael was born and raised in Kansas and moved to Santa Fe in 1993. His Liberal Arts degree is from Wichita State University and he went on to receive his Master's in Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University. While in graduate school Michael developed a 14 acre master plan for the Botanical Gardens at Kansas State University, a marketing plan and master plan for the 114 mile William Epps Cormack Coastal Trail in Newfoundland, Canada and the Vietnam Memorial and War Memorial Park in Wichita, Kansas. Working as a landscape architect in Santa Fe since 1993, his designs include residential, estate, institutional, commercial and community planning projects. He remains active as a coach at Zia Gymnastics coaching competitive team kids from age eight through high school. Michael is an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, USA Gymnastics, USA Tennis Association and past member of the Santa Fe County Open Land Space Advisory Committee. His hobbies include sports in general but specifically gymnastics, tennis, snow boarding and drawing.
